Moving
forward…
Gold Investment expects a
better performance from Simmers moving
forward:
-
Less nasty surprises - The new Simmers board doesn’t foreseen any
nasty surprises moving forward. This is despite the terrible accident at the Buffelsfontein Gold Mine
which has claimed the life of one mine worker earlier this year in May, which led to the closure of the
mine for 19 days and a drop in gold production as a direct result of the closure. This is not to say
that there will be no nasty surprises this time around, because there’s always a good dose of nasty
surprises in mining, especially gold mining. It’s rather to say that it seems that
there’s going to be better sailing this time around (or less room for nasty
surprises).

Tau Lekoa Gold Mine - It seems that Simmers has a lot going for it
in the form of the Tau Lekoa Gold Mine, especially if one considers that Tau Lekoa is currently the
4th largest gold producer in South Africa. One can only hope that the Simmers board manages
to conclude the Tau Lekoa acquisition sooner rather than later since it will help to boost cash flows
which are needed to make progress.
